About Els
I originally started my language studies - Dutch, French and English - for a simple reason: understanding a language opens up the world. Language connects you to people — to their lives, culture, history… and ultimately to their why.
That same curiosity lies at the heart of my passion for marketing, long before Simon Sinek introduced his “Start With Why” concept in 2009. At its core, marketing begins with a higher purpose — a clear ambition. When the meaningful purpose of an organization is clarified, it resonates with the deeper aspirations of its customers. Strong marketing helps people move closer to who they want to become. Does that sound a bit soft? Perhaps. But it holds true, whether you’re an executive coach, a tire brand, or working in renewable energy.
Marketing is, by nature, fundamentally customer-centric. Its primary role is to create value through products and services that genuinely address the needs, challenges, and goals of real people — people searching for meaning, identity, and connection. When an offering helps customers make progress in their lives, it goes beyond transactions and becomes a catalyst for change.
As Seth Godin puts it: “Marketing is about changing people.” It is the craft of creating stories, experiences, and solutions that help individuals take a step toward the person they want to become. Marketing builds the bridge between what people need and what enables them to grow. At its best, marketing is a driving force for personal transformation and a catalyst for sustainable growth.
That is exactly where I find my energy — in my work and in my life: planting the seeds for change and seeing people and organizations grow into who they are meant to be.
